Descriptions of volunteer positions:
Remember that each family is required to choose a volunteer position.
The volunteer time can be done by parents,
grandparents and even older children (with approval- Stage crew does not count).
Please consider being a group leader-
these positions are critical to making the show possible!!

Assistant Director- helps the director at rehearsals and assists with running lines and choreography with the main cast Student Director- Responsible High school Seniors or graduates who would like the opportunity to help direct the show. Must be able to be at the majority of practices as well as come early and stay late. Contact Emily directly with questions. Stage Manager- takes charge of all sets, props, and backstage crew; coordinates with the show director and artistic director on set needs Assistant Stage Manager- assist stage manager in building sets, backdrops etc. Student Stage Manager- Please contact Emily before signing up. Must be a very responsible High school Senior or graduate who would like to learn the behind the scenes workings of a play. Show Choreographer- develops dance choreography for some of the groups Student Choreographer- we can have multiple. Choreograph and teach a dance to one of the groups. Music Director & Performance Pianist- plays the piano, helps groups and the main cast rehearse music Practice Pianists: plays the piano during rehearsals, alternates with music director as needed Directors Assistant/ Volunteer Organizer- keeps track of all volunteers and ensures every family has done at least 4 hours of service Grant Writer- writes grant proposals during the year to get us our funding Student Public Relations- Facebook, Instagram, Text messaging parents, emails etc. Website design/maintenance: Maintain current information on website Music Composition: Sound: Provide, manage and run sound equipment for the dress rehearsal and show nights Sound Assistant: Multiples needed. Help the Sound crew manage microphones during dress rehearsals and shows. Must be available in the morning for the two dress rehearsals and in the evening for two shows. (can rotate with other Sound Assistants) Sound Set up and Take Down: Come early on dress rehearsal days (2 mornings) and 2 show evenings to help set up/take down the sound equipment. (can rotate with other set up volunteers) Stage Set up and Take Down: Assist director/ Stage Manager with setting up/taking down the stage equipment (usually the Saturday before practices begin) Daily Clean up/take down: Be at the park each day at the end of practice to help put items away, clean up trash etc. Great job for an older youth |
Group Leader- Must be able to be at the ½ hour daytime rehearsals. Help teach your group their song and dance (you do not have to choreograph); attends half of rehearsals, one dress rehearsal and one show night to help children into costumes and stay entertained during the show.
Co-Artistic Directors- works with the show director and stage manager; designs, delegates and paints backdrops Painter- Paint the backdrops, scenery for the show. Good for all skill levels! Prop/Set builders- build pieces of set/ props as needed. Places for all skill levels! Craft Director- coordinates with various groups on what needs to be made. Manages all crafting and delegates crafting jobs to volunteers Crafter- We always have a variety of crafts that need to be made. Headpieces, costume pieces, props/scenery etc. You can take projects home to work on, or work on things at the park as you wait for your children. Costume Director- works with show director to design new costumes and best utilize ones in storage; works with volunteer organizer to get volunteers materials they need to make various costumes Costume Manager- Assist director in deciding costumes for all groups, gather patterns if needed, help fit costumes to cast members Assistant Costume Managers- Needs to be able to be at some practices. Pass out costumes to groups help with sizing. Also must be able to be at dress rehearsal and show nights. Fabric Cutters- willing to cut out fabric for multiple costumes; either at home or at a cutting party Sewing-Needs to have access to a sewing machine or surger. Will sew costumes for the show. Variety of skill levels! Costume Maintenance- Take costumes home at the end of the play for washing, dry cleaning etc. Also help put costumes back away in the storage unit or return borrowed costumes. Hair Designer- Plan how each cast member will wear their hair. Email parents pictures of hair ideas. Help cast members with doing their hair on show nights. Makeup designer- Plan makeup for each cast member/group. Email parents pictures of makeup ideas. Put together makeup kits for each age group. Help cast members with doing their make up on show nights. PR Coordinator- creates fliers for groups detailing their costume needs and their song lyrics, creates other announcements/fliers that may be needed. Arranges a cast treat or reward for the cast. Certificate Designer-makes beautiful participation certificates for the cast and crew T-shirt Designer- designs an appropriate show logo for the show t-shirt T-shirt Coordinator- keeps track of show t-shirt orders; works with printing company to have t-shirts printed. Organizes and disperses shirts and collects money Videographer-films both performances and creates a DVD Photographer-takes pictures of rehearsals and performances DVD Coordinator- Coordinate creation of DVDs and distribution to those who purchase Program Creator-- creates the program for the show as well as the printing and distribution. Also in charge of encouraging the children to draw cover designs and program art. Sponsor Banner Creator-creates show specific banner acknowledging our sponsors. Coordinates hanging of banner. Lyrics Poster Maker- writes up all the words to each age group's songs onto posters for use during rehearsals. Must be done prior to the first practice. Parade Coordinator- Enters cast into the Nibley City Heritage Days Parade; gets flatbed or similar conveyance and decorates it for parade; organizes everyone on parade day Assistant Parade Coordinator- helps decorate parade entry and organize children and parent volunteers to walk with the children on parade day. Coordinates the purchase of candy and the distribution of the candy during the parade. |
